Painting a driveway

Painting a driveway consists of two main parts prepping and painting.  Prepping is the longest part in the process and the most important of the parts.  You want to have the surface clean and rough so the paint will ad-hear to the surface.  On a non-painted surface you will want to acid etch the concrete.  This product can be found at local hardware stores home depot, lowes, ace, etc.  To apply the acid you want to wet the surface apply the acid mix by brush.  Let sit for 10-15 minutes and then wash off surface.  Then follow up process with pressure washing surface.  After pressure washing surface let the surface dry for up to 24 hours.  The next day make sure surface is cleaned and ready to be primed. Also, before priming it is helpful to edge the yard, tape any areas that you don't want to be painted, and clear areas like pine straw away from surface.   Prime paint the surface with a concrete primer that will also be found at your local hardware store.  Just roll on primer and brush the edges.  After completing this step wait 24 hours to let dry.  When surface is dry you are ready to paint.
Painting the surface you want to begin by checking the surface so that it is clean and free from any materials that might have showed up over night.  After surface is clean get the paint of your choice and start to roll the surface in one direction while painting with a hand brush around the edges and trim spots. Important not to leave runs in the paint because they will harden and show on final paint job.  When the first coat has dried paint in opposite directions to hide any lines that were created from day before.  Check on manufacturer recommendations on how long it will take for the paint to dry and when vehicles can drive on paint.  From my experience it is 24 hours for light foot traffic and 72 hours for vehicle weight.  Note: paint will dry longer at different places so apply consistent amount and move on and don't keep reapplying.
